Ca' Foscari invites applications for a tenured-track position as Assistant Professor of Germanic philology. Ca' Foscari is looking for a researcher of Germanic philology with a cutting edge research profile. The researcher should also have a strong commitment to teaching new generations of students so that they can become game-changers in their own fields and make a difference in the world. The selected candidate will be required to teach courses (in English and Italian) mainly about Germanic Philology, in accordance with the needs of the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies and the objectives of the paths/curricula in philology. S/he will work in the BA and MA programmes offered by the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies, as well as in other post-graduate and doctoral programmes. In particular, the researcher will teach in the following courses: - Germanic Philology (Italian or English) - Comparative History of the Germanic Languages (English) - Elements of digital editing (English) The languages of instruction are English and Italian; S/he is expected to be able to perform all administrative duties and interact with the university administration in Italian. The selected candidate will be required to carry out research in compliance with the guidelines of the Department of Linguistic and Comparative Cultural Studies. More specifically, s/he will investigate in the field of Germanic Philology, also with a digital approach, as well as in the field of comparative linguistics of the Germanic languages in a diachronic perspective. The candidate is expected to have some international research experience – testified by training abroad and international research networks – as well as international publications. The position will be hosted in the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies. The Department has recently received a "Department of Excellence" Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the Department to Develop state of the art laboratory facilities to pursue the theoretical and empirical study of linguistic and cultural diversity.
