By joining us as a Sales Engineer you will be the face of Emerson in front of our key customers within the northern regions of Italy (Lombardia, Emilia Romagna and Veneto), selling cutting-edge technology and new motion solutions for an exciting variety of industries such as discrete manufacturing, water & wastewater, automotive, tunnels & metros, life sciences, chemicals and oil & gas. Reporting to the Sales Manager Italy, you will help identify and qualify new business opportunities within your assigned area and promote customer satisfaction and loyalty by demonstrating an understanding of their business and needs, collaborating closely with OEM’s, system integrators, EPC’s and end users. You will also stay on top of rapidly emerging Industry 4.0 and other technologies and you’ll act as an adviser and partner to customers as you help them implement these new technologies to change their business models.If you consider yourself an outstanding sales talent, with a proven technical background and this sounds like an interesting opportunity to you, then join us as office based in Milan or possibly home-based employee! IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:Be responsible for achieving sales targets and for the performance of new orders for the assigned regions;Do timely follow-up of leads generated by marketing activities to target new business creation;Creatively expand the list of target accounts, focusing on OEMs, also identifying new niches of growth, with entrepreneurship;Put new customers first and help them tackle with their challenges;Do tactical planning for commercial and marketing activities;Ensure customer and opportunity prospecting followed by deal closing;Collaborate closely with marketing, product managers, engineers and supply chain to provide feedback on customer requirements, competition and market trends;Partner with our global marketing team and industry managers to execute local activities;Handle contract negotiations;Participate in trade fairs and sales events. FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:Technical education or bachelor’s degree in Control Systems / Computer Science / Electrical / Electronics / IT / Computer Programming, preferably engineering degree; At least 5 years of proven successful experience in technical sales roles or a small business leadership role, preferably in industrial automation, dealing with OEMs. Previous role as Application Engineer (or Solution Architect) is helpful;Sales experience in adjacent industries may be considered for the right candidate (mechatronics / robotics / information & operations technology / electrical / industrial or manufacturing software / MES & MIS / cloud computing / instrumentation / OEM equipment);Solid knowledge of PLC programming environment;Working knowledge of discrete and hybrid automation systems, technologies include: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Motion and Safe Motion, Variable Speed Drives (VSD’s), Safety Systems (Emergency Shutdown and Fire & Gas), Operator Interfaces, HMI/SCADA software and cloud/EDGE technologies;Excellent communication and social skills, along with eye for business and strong drive for results;Proficiency in Italian and English is mandatory;Willingness to travel up to 4 days a week within the assigned area.WHO YOU ARE:You are sales and results-oriented, customer focused, ambitious and passionate about making an impact and always act with integrity.
