Scholarship America's Student Success Programs Team is seeking an enthusiastic individual to support and grow our community-based Dollars for Scholars scholarship program, in alignment with our mission to eliminate barriers for students facing financial need. The individual selected for this position will serve as the primary consultant for more than 400 Dollars for Scholars (DFS) organizations—community-based affiliates of Scholarship America that provide local scholarships to students in their towns/regions/school districts. The Community Engagement Consultant coordinates resources, research and responses, helping Dollars for Scholars organizations with topics including scholarship set-up, organizational structure, volunteer recruiting & retention, student & donor collaboration, and fundraising best practices. While Scholarship America's headquarters are in Minnesota, these Dollars for Scholars are located across the nation, with a concentration in the Northeast and Midwest and additional pockets in Washington and California.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Plan and organize informative webinars, online meetings, and communications in partnership with other departments in support of our volunteer network
· Provide personalized support and coaching in donor research/management, volunteer engagement and retention, and strategic planning
· Manage our volunteer network Facebook group
· Work to ensure chapters comply with IRS regulations and nonprofit best practices as outlined in their contractual agreements
· Represent Scholarship America and communicate its messages and priorities to our community partners and in efforts to expand our DFS network
· Stay informed about postsecondary education issues and trends to align with topics or changes impacting our volunteer network
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: A passion for improving student outcomes and a commitment to serving marginalized students of need · Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and inspire others
· Adaptability to respond to multiple issues, tasks, and requests
· Ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines
· Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel
· Advanced proficiency and ability to facilitate meetings through Zoom and Microsoft Teams
· Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, effectively, and cooperatively with diverse, intergenerational groups of people
· Ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented
· Strong command of the English language, with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
· Highly organized, strong attention to detail to produce the highest quality work, including follow up and follow through
· Ability to analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
· Regular & timely attendance to support business & client need
· Ability to provide off-hour support to chapters at least quarterly and as requested by chapters in accordance with their volunteer members' availability
· Four or more years of relevant work experience supporting education or postsecondary education
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: · Bachelor's Degree
· Experience supporting small 501c3 organizations with IRS regulation compliance
· Ability to coach and counsel partners on designing scholarship programs that support students of greatest need
· Experience providing customer service to or supporting diverse populations
· Cultural awareness to appreciate varied lived experiences and the potential impact on educational achievement
· Experience implementing programs or initiatives in a professional or educational setting that impact marginalized students of need
Full Pay range: Exempt ($47,200 - $59,000 - $70,800)
This is the pay range for our staff in this position, from entry to fully independent and proficient in the role utilizing our propriety systems and processes. The candidate selected for this position will be offered a wage applicable to their background and skill set as aligned to our business. This will result in an initial offer between $47,200 - $61,000 annually for this position. We know the best person for the job could be anywhere, and that's why this position can work remotely within the continental United States or in a hybrid manner from either our office in Bloomington or Saint Peter, MN. Our employees enjoy a team-based, flexible work schedule, allowing them to flex around our core hours of Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Central Time.
