We're looking to add to that, with the appointment of a cost estimator – an organized and diligent professional that will drive quality across their segment of the company.
Here's what our cost estimator will be doing: In this role, you will assist the team on mid to large scale projects in collaboration with our subcontractors and our clients (sectors: office, Retail and Hospitality). This position is multifaceted; across Europe working with the pre-construction director and project management teams on pre-conception of our projects before they go live.
The cost estimator will be required to travel to client destinations and work sites in Europe.
Key activities identified below but not limited to: Identify and quantify the costs and activities required for all works included in the specifications and bills of quantities (considering production time, materials and labour)Analyse the legal, technical and financial risks of a projectResearch and propose technical and economic solutionsSelect companies and propose partnerships, managing all communications and relations with technical and purchasing departments, both internal and externalEvaluate the profitability and viability of projects, making recommendations to the Delivery teamParticipate in the preliminary financial phase of projectsConsult with suppliers: organise and analyse offersmanage preliminary and resource costs – while also having good knowledge of the project contractual terms – is key, as is the capability and confidence to predict and identify future risks or opportunities and associated costs/revenues,take ownership of maintaining our profitability by allocating budgets for each element of a construction project, while also supervising any changes to the financial aspects of ongoing deliveriesParticipate, if required, in monthly reporting on the project financial positionAssist in order management with subcontractorsKey Skills and competencies Technical skillsKnowledge of local regulationsAble to critically analyse project documentationAble to work independently, handling your own time and workAbility and experience on construction and architectural projectsManagerial skills Negociation and managementKnowledge and experience of construction site phasesKnowledge and experience of occupational and site safety processes What we're looking for from our cost estimator : Architect, Engineer or Quantity Surveyor, or studies in business school, specialising in the construction sectorAt least 5 years' experience as a cost estimatorEnglish speaker bilingual in Italian & English. Time management skills: You should be able to juggle multiple tasks and provide cost estimates in a timely manner to help projects stay on time and on budget.
Detail oriented: Project plans involve a large degree of detailed information, and cost-estimating mistakes can be potentially costly
