Investing in our People - Building our Team As an integral part of the Fibre Team, the Forestry Assistant is responsible for assisting in Conifex's planning and development programs. Forestry Assistants will gain experience in a variety of field and office-related activities, including block and road reconnaissance and layout, riparian assessments, wildlife assessments, map creation using ArcGIS, and data management. Key Responsibilities Opportunity to be exposed to a variety of field-based forestry activities Conifex supports our employees with professional development opportunities Assist with block and road layout, including GPS-traverse Assist with riparian and wildlife assessments Responsible for field data collection and management Assist with components of Cutting Permit and Road Permit submissions May assist with timber cruise reviews and check cruise requests Assist the Harvesting Team in the field by completing logging and road building supervision, log quality checks, environmental compliance assessments, deactivation prescription and monitoring, and contractor compliance inspections within safe operating procedures. Assist the Harvesting Team in the development of harvest plans and pre-works, harvest and haul rates, log forecasts, and other relevant tasks to aid in the achievement of objectives. Other duties as assigned and depending on interest, including some aspects of Purchase wood, Biomass, Planning, and Silviculture. Here is what we are looking for: Applicants with any level of working forestry experience are encouraged to apply. Degree or Diploma in Forestry or related field, and be an RPF, RFT, or be eligible to enroll with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia A valid BC driver's license OFA Level 1 (can be acquired upon employment) Here is what we offer: The salary range for this position is between $55,000-$70,000.
