Haydn Foundation: Artistic Director of the Bolzano Danza Festival (Italy) The Haydn Foundation of Bolzano and Trento, Italy, is calling for expressions of interest for the appointment of an Artistic Director of the Bolzano Danza Festival.
The spirit of Bolzano Danza, the international contemporary dance Festival held under the auspices of Haydn since 2015 and now in its 40th edition, has always been rooted in two different but intertwined concepts: performance and education. The performance section (the subject of this expression of interest) is the responsibility of Haydn. It presents performances of high artistic and cultural value of international scope and with cross-cutting programming that reaches out beyond the halls of the Municipal Theatre of Bolzano to the city and its natural surroundings. The Haydn Orchestra, which can be brought in to perform live music, stands out among the various multidisciplinary tools at the Festival's disposal. At the same time, the event acts as a laboratory for innovative and socially relevant projects, which contribute to enhancing the region and enriching the local community's experience, and for experimenting with digital technologies.
As part of the Festival's programming, the Artistic Direction is expected to actively help implement the strategic aspects by: conceiving innovative projects in line with this identity; promoting the project beyond regional borders to increase its visibility at national and international level; collaborating with the artistic direction of the Foundation's music section to develop shared projects; planning activities to actively involve the local audience via participatory initiatives; and finally, by constantly searching for ways to cooperate with other cultural entities to broaden the overall impact of the Festival and the Foundation.
The annual budget available to the artistic direction for each edition of the Festival amounts to around 300,000 EUR.
The appointment will be for three years and involves the programming of the 2025, 2026 and 2027 editions of the Bolzano Danza Festival, and can be renewed for a further three years at the decision of the Board of Directors. Haydn reserves the right to determine the salary compensation after the selection process has taken place.
