Job Description We are looking for a passionate and talented scientist whohas an interestin structural biology and structure-based drug discovery.The successful candidate will work in a highly collaborative research environment and willbe in charge ofproducing high-quality protein samples for structural biology projects and biophysical applications. The applicant must have solid training in protein biochemistry, protein overexpression in bacterial/eukaryotic systems and experience in protein purification. The new resource will work closely with the NMR group and will assist in sample preparation for spectroscopic studies. Additionally, the successful candidatewill be responsible forpreparing protein standards for method development and biological reagents for biological assays and screenings.
Key responsibilities Apply, optimize, and innovate protein purification processes. Maximize protein yields, activity, stability and purityExecute and troubleshoot bench experiments carefully and precisely. Apply standard molecular biology, biochemical and cell biology techniques to achieve research goalsSustain protein production for internal and external projectsPerform ongoing care and upkeep of instruments used primarily for protein productionProvide support to the NMR group and participate to research activities aimed at improving existing and/or developing new tools for structural biologyPerform technical evaluation of research experiments and results, perform data analysis and keep detailed records of dataPresent data and reports on project status to multidisciplinary teams and external collaboratorsExperience with expression and purification of recombinant proteins from coliand mammalian culturesHands on experience in various chromatographic purification techniques, including but not limited to affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusionKnowledge of cloning techniques for plasmid constructionHands on experience in insect cell-based protein expression is not essential but will be considered a plusExtremely organized and able to efficiently manage time and operations considering both long-term projects and day-to-day responsibilitiesHighly collaborative, team-oriented, and able to learn quicklyOutstanding oral and written communication skills, particularly when collaborating with other teams with limited knowledge of your area of expertiseExcellent knowledge of spoken and written English is mandatoryQualifications Required: Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields) or equivalent experience in an industrial setting
