A-COLD-WALL* is the material study of social architecture. Through conscious fabric innovation, A-COLD-WALL* seeks to optimise human performance and, by the same stroke, comment on the collective experience. Launched in 2015 by Dr Samuel Ross as a response to the British social climate, A-COLD-WALL* instigates a cultural conversation that celebrates the energy of youth across a range of mediums. A-Cold-Wall* are seeking a junior designer to join their Milan-based team on a freelance, fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be expected to work across all RTW product categories, from concept and design research to product handover of finalCADs and tech packs to the development team and report to the Senior RTW Designer. This will require strong organisational skills, passion and drive to create innovative, market-leading products.
Key responsibilities: Work closely with the design team on seasonal research following the briefs set by the art director. Translate hand sketches into CAD format through the design development process. Maintain design boards through the design process. Work alongside the graphic design team to design garments and visual applications in tandem. Create detailed and accurate 2DCAD illustrations to progress designs through the full development and manufacturing process. On design confirmation, set up style tech packs, including technical sketches with design and construction details highlighted. Create colorway proposals for each style, updating the tech packs once confirmed. Building and maintaining strong relationships across the internal creative teams. Supporting special projects, made in-house capsules, and collaborations as required. 2+ years of relevant design experience. An excellent knowledge of garment construction methods, finishing, wash, dye, and printing techniques is essential. Experience working with factories in Italy, Portugal, and FE. Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the fashion and creative industries. Team player who takes initiative and can handle a fast-paced environment. Ability to work under pressure and to handle multiple projects. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. Bilingual (English, Italian, French, Mandarin, Portuguese) is a bonus. A relevant design qualification to the BA (Hons) standard or equivalent. Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
