Junior Full Stack Developer for Edge AI Applications
FBK is a private research institution based in Trento (Italy), operating in different scientific fields and disciplines. As such, it keeps the Autonomous Province of Trento within the mainstream of international research. Workplace Description The Digital Industry Center is one of the Centers of the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK). It focuses its research on digital technologies for the various domains in industry (e.g., manufacturing, aerospace, railway, automotive, energy, agriculture, manufacturing) by creating applications for critical systems, adaptive and autonomous systems, advanced perception, diagnostics, quality control and prediction systems. Further research areas include precision farming, robotics, metrology, cultural heritage and geomatics.
The OpenIoT Research Unit (RU) focuses its research activities on gaining leading knowledge and supporting the design and creation of innovative, standard-based and interoperable IoT-based solutions. The unit's main competencies cover enabling technologies for the IoT and developing cutting-edge tools, infrastructural solutions and related reference architectural models at the device, edge, and cloud levels. By using cutting-edge AI-based methodologies, the final objective is to make these devices self-configurable, more autonomous and thus enduring. In particular, the research activities focus on the following research topics: (1) Fog/Edge-based IoT services, platforms and infrastructures; (2) Edge analytics through adaptation of AI techniques to embedded devices; (3) IoT Decentralization through Blockchains. Such research and knowledge are complemented by hands-on competencies in relevant application domains and novel use cases, such as precision agriculture and industrial IoT. Job Description The OpenIoT Research Unit is conducting relevant projects at the forefront of edge AI research and development. We specialize in harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to create innovative solutions that drive progress across various industries. Our team is composed of passionate individuals dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what's possible with AI in combination with IoT and edge computing.
We are seeking a talented Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic team focused on edge AI research projects. As a Full Stack Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge solutions that leverage AI capabilities at the edge. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, and data scientists to bring innovative ideas to life.
The successful candidates are expected to contribute to the following tasks:
designing, coding, documenting, and debugging software using different technologies in a small development team; search, understand and compose different open-source and state-of-the-art components to build complex use cases and proof-of-concepts; development of software components to make the different modules communicate among them; Job Requirements The Ideal Candidate should have: academic background in science or engineering fields (e.g., industrial automation, control systems and simulation, computer science, computer engineering, artificial intelligence); ability to work in a collaborative environment with a strong commitment to achieving assigned objectives; proficiency in at least one traditional programming language (e.g., C/C++, python); familiarity with software versioning systems (e.g., Git); ability to adopt state-of-the-art tools, including computer vision and DeepLearning-based tools (e.g., OpenCV, YOLO) to build the target application; knowledge of development for embedded devices with limited computing resources (e.g., Arduino, ESP32, STM32, ARM); good communication and relational skills; good knowledge of written and spoken English. Furthermore, the following elements will be positively evaluated: prior knowledge of containerization or orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Docker-Compose, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes); hands-on experience with open-source software for data platforms (e.g., Apache Parquet, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Min.IO, AWS S3); hands-on experience with cloud provider platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle, Digital Ocean, OVH). Employment: Type of contract : Fixed Term Contract
Working hours : preferably full-time (38 h per week); availability to consider part-time options
Duration : 24 months
Start date : july 2024
Gross annual salary : about 27.800€ € plus objectives achievement bonus
