Major Gifts Manager (or Senior Major Gifts Manager) Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Manager (or Senior Major Gifts Manager) is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to retain existing major gift donors, upgrade their giving, and bringing in new prospects to Indivisible.
To be successful in this role, the Major Gifts Manager is expected to be proactive, a strong writer, communicate effectively and have strong collaborative skills, and have a sharp eye for detail. They should have a keen interest in helping to resource the Indivisible movement. The main duties of this position include being responsible for renewals for a segment of donors, organizing events, writing pitches for our work, leading major gifts projects and campaigns, overseeing and implementing our major gifts prospecting strategy, and pitching in to support cross-team efforts like our acknowledgement process and annual report.
We are hiring for this position immediately. This position is full-time, with a salary range starting at $65,650 per year ($76,900 for Senior Major Gifts Manager), commensurate with experience. Responsibilities-Responsible for securing renewals and upgrades from a segment of our major gift donors-Develop personalized outreach strategies for the segment of donors in your portfolio, including by developing relationships directly with some donors and by managing up to the Executive Team of Indivisible to support them in building their relationships with other donors in your portfolio-Help to manage the co-executive directors workblocks, ensuring their time is well managed and the development team asks are clear and well prepared-(Responsibilities for this overlap with the next category!)Pitch and Campaign Development (35%)-Support the full major gifts program by leading the development of 2-3 major gifts projects/campaigns over the year. This may include owning a campaign on a major scope of work for Indivisible, leading travel planning when there are more opportunities to connect with donors in person, or new initiatives that this position develops!-Write concise, persuasive pitches about Indivisible's work, including in rapid response momentsProspecting & Cultivation (20%)-Own major gifts prospecting, working with our external consultants to identify, research, qualify, and help Indivisible's leadership build relationships with new major gift donors and current donors who have -capacity to upgrade their giftsStrategize, own, and support aspects of donor-facing events-Implement donor cultivation and engagement plans to develop personalized tactics to secure new gifts and upgrades of our top prospects-Closely track our relationships with donor prospects through meticulous data management-Strengthen our relationship with donor advisors and donor communities we know, including by managing up to the leadership of Indivisible to ensure they are in frequent communication and preparing outreach for them to send-Help to identify new donor advisors and donor communities, and create strategies for building connectionsOther Development Team Responsibilities (10%)-Support our acknowledgement process for mid-level and major gift donors-Help in other cross-team development efforts by supporting 1-2 foundation team projects over the course of the year-Support data management of donor information and communications in Salesforce-Other responsibilities as assignedRequired QualificationsAt least 3 years relevant experience in fundraising, with at least 2 years experience cultivating large individual givingExcellent writing skills, with the ability to craft concise, persuasive pitchesPrevious experience fundraising in a fast-paced environment -- this could be in the non-profit or campaign space -- and creating fundraising campaigns and tacticsExcellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to think proactively and prioritize workStrong communication skills (via phone, email, and video chat) both with colleagues and donorsExperience exercising discretion and confidentiality with sensitive informationAbility to manage up to senior-level staff with confidence and good judgmentAlignment on the core values and strategy of Indivisible.Desired QualificationsExperience fundraising on a political campaign or in a progressive nonprofitExperience using Salesforce or similar donor databaseExperience writing and submitting formal grant reports and proposalsExperience working across entities – 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC#J-18808-Ljbffr
