The primary responsibility of a Business Wire Newsroom Editor is to accurately and efficiently prepare
and transmit news releases over Business Wire's circuits. A Newsroom Editor will also work as a team member performing any and all functions necessary for the successful operation of Newsroom Operations as determined by departmental management.
We are hiring for 2 different shifts. The two shifts are listed below. Please indicate which shift you are interested in when applying. Both shifts are for Central time zone hours.
Available shifts
1) Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM CST
2) Monday to Friday 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM CST
What You will Do Standard duties for all Newsroom Editors may include any or all of the following (other duties may be assigned by departmental management):Format, edit and proofread press releases on a computer quickly and accuratelyCode each release based on a client's request for distribution, suggest additional or alternative circuits that may be beneficial to the client and talk to them about conflicting distribution instructionsContact clients regarding any problems that could lead to errors (grammar or punctuation mistakes, typos, missing contact information, etc.)Assess the authenticity of press release orders and escalate potentially problematic content appropriatelyDisplay good judgment in helping to resolve issuesMonitor incoming orders and ensure that all are accounted for and handled in a timely fashionMonitor online to ensure successful transmission of contentAssist other Newsroom teams with overflow of orders as necessaryPerform opening/closing or other shift-change duties as necessaryMaintain up-to-date knowledge of Business Wire products, services, procedures and policies Assist with incoming phone calls, including fielding client questions regarding distribution options, and answering other general questionsHelp guide clients through the process of submitting orders to Business Wire, including how to use the Business Wire websiteProvide membership information and set up new accounts when the situation is approved and appropriate Collaborate with sales and other departments as necessary Communicate all technical issues to the Service Desk or Web Support teams in a timely and detailed fashionAuthorize credit card payments when necessary Run and submit the daily distribution report to the billing department by set deadlineMaintain a log of daily activityWhat You Will Need Bachelor's degreeExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to work effectively with a variety of people in a team environmentAbility to multitask, prioritize workflow, and follow projects through to completion under tight deadlinesStrong attention to detailAbility to exercise good judgmentBasic technical skills and computer literacy, including proficiency in standard business applications (i.e., MS Word and Excel; Web, etc.)Must demonstrate reliability through good attendance and punctualityCourteous and professional phone mannerProfessional demeanorMust be flexible with schedule, as neededThe hourly rate range for this position is $19/hour to $23/hour. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
