And it's why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it's worth paying for.  Job Description About the Role The New York Times Editing Center, a 40-person editing and production team operating remotely, is looking for two experienced photo editors to select, edit, and caption images for distribution to clients worldwide. 
In a global news environment, you will work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as it is necessary to contribute to The Times' mission and commitment to its innovation and growth. Shifts and days are to be determined; the Photo department is staffed seven days a week; on most weekdays it is staffed 8 a.m.-10 p.m. ET. The Photo Editor roles will work remotely and report to the Manager, Photo.
Responsibilities: Select and edit New York Times photos for distribution to a global audience, while following Times standards. Process graphics and illustrations for distribution.  Prioritize breaking news and features, exercising news judgment. Write concise and complete captions. Select images for Times publications including the Times Digest and International Weekly. Desire to perform in a dynamic workplace and work collaboratively with editors at The New York Times. Willing to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Basic Qualifications: 3+ years of experience as a photo editor for a wire service or news publication. Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related subject. 3+ years of experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Preferred Qualifications: News judgment and an understanding of current world events, and how The Times covers them. Knowledge of AP style and copy editing. Experience in remote work environments, including troubleshooting technical issues and the ability to collaborate across virtual teams. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is staffed seven days a week, under tight deadlines. The annual base pay range for this role is the following:
3 - 5 years of experience photo editing: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
6+ years of experience photo editing: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00
