Post-Doc Researcher On Molecular Targets For Parkinson'S Disease

Institute for Biomedicine The Institute for Biomedicine, located at Bolzano's NOI Techpark, is a key component of Eurac Research, dedicated to improving health through precision prevention research. This interdisciplinary effort seeks to predict, slow or preempt illness progression by understanding genetic, biological, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Utilizing a decade-long population study in collaboration with the South Tyrolean Healthcare Service, the institute offers access to extensive data and biological materials suitable for such research. With a focus on neurological, cardiovascular, and metabolic health, the team employs state-of-the-art labs and innovative management to span the full translational research cycle, from data generation to potential clinical application.
In its focus area Molecular Neurodegeneration the Translational Genomics group is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work on the available portfolio of molecular targets for Parkinson's disease. Specifically, the team is interested in how the autophagy-lysosome pathway modulates cellular phenotypes related to Parkinson's disease, spanning from proteostasis, cell biology and synapse function. The team utilizes approaches of molecular and cell biology, fluorescence and confocal imaging, cell lines and iPSC-derived neurons and organoids. We are looking for a 1 year position for a scientist who recently graduated from their PhD in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Pharmacology or related disciplines.
Tasks: The researcher will be involved in laboratory work, data analyses and presentation, including the following tasks:
Cell line and iPSC culture and differentiation in neurons and brain organoidsMolecular and cell biology experiments (ddPCR, Western blot, functional assays, confocal microscopy)Support in calcium imaging experimentsSupport in electrophysiology and multi-electrode array experimentsData analyses and statisticsPreparation of graphs, presentation and manuscripts
Requirements: PhD in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Pharmacology or related disciplines (degree to be obtained but already defended is acceptable)Operating knowledge of cell culture and sterile techniquesExperience in molecular and cell biology assaysPrevious experience with microscopy and/or electrophysiology is an advantageExpertise in assessment of the neurobiology of the synapse is also an advantageExcellent written and spoken EnglishWe offer: The Institute for Biomedicine is offering a position for 1 year.
