EMBL Rome shares its research campus with the Italian National Research Council (CNR) Institute for Biochemistry and Cell Biology (IBBC).About the team/jobThe Gross group at EMBL Rome is looking for a Research Technician who will participate in neuroscience research as part of an interdisciplinary team of young scientists working within a highly collaborative international environment. The Gross group uses a combination of in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, ethological behavior assessment, and molecular genetics neural monitoring and manipulation tools to study how social behaviors in mice are controlled and adapted to a changing environment. The person appointed to this position will be responsible for supporting and collaborating with other members of the team and will have demonstrated expertise in some or all of the following methods: in vivo electrophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging, optogenetics, histology, and rodent behavior assessment and analysis.Your role In addition to the above tasks, the postholder will have a key role in general laboratory management and organization, the maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment, training of lab members in essential techniques, supervision of trainees where needed, and the provision of general support for group members throughout their scientific projects.Grading: 4-5-6 depending on experience and qualificationsExperience in neuroscience research or related technical fieldExpertise in animal husbandry, surgery, and behavioral testingExpertise or demonstrated interest in applying in vivo neural recording and manipulation techniquesExcellent communication skills and fluency in EnglishYou might also have Technical skills in the design, construction, or operation of custom electromechanical devicesExperience in laboratory management (purchasing, equipment and event organization, technical training)EMBL is curiosity-driven, community-oriented and international.
