SUMMARY OF ROLEThe SURFACE & COATING PROCESSES ENGINEER defines technical specifications applicable to corrosion protection by means of painting and other surface processes, so to fulfill Customer requirements, and provides all the involved Company Functions with the engineering support needed to put such specifications into practice.SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyzes Customer's specifications and requirements to provide technical support during the bid phase, by indicating the necessary deviations or clarifications about surface treatments, preparation and painting, as well as the relevant examinationsResponsible for issuing and revising the painting documents (specifications, procedures, control plans, etc.) submitted to Customer's approvalDefines the technical specifications about purchasing of surface treatment services, paints, abrasives and relevant equipment Responsible for writing the technical specifications about the qualification of surface treatment processes (painting, abrasive blasting, passivation, pickling, phosphating, etc.) Defines the qualification criteria of the surface treatment Suppliers according to Vanessa Management SystemCollaborates with Quality Assurance in applying the above mentioned qualification criteria (also by means of audits to Suppliers), as well in the management of non-conformities and corrective actions regarding surface treatments, in accordance with the Vanessa Management SystemPrepared to receive (internal and external) audits of the Vanessa Management SystemCollaborates with the Supply Chain and with the Personnel of each manufacturing Plant in assigning surface treatment jobs to the most suitable SuppliersCollaborates with the Personnel of each manufacturing Plant and with the Suppliers to achieve compliance to the painting documents (specifications, procedures, control plans, etc.) approved by Customers Responsible for selection and testing of new surface treatment processes and/or materials to support product development activities Stays up-to-date, understands and analyzes Market trends, shares knowledge (also through periodic training actions for Colleagues)Actively contributes to strategic choices related to corrosion protection of Vanessa productsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEUniversity graduation or high school degree in Engineering or other Technical-Scientific subjectsDeep knowledge of painting for corrosion protection and related topics, obtained through previous experience and preferably proven by achieving a (FROSIO, NACE or equivalent) Coating Inspector certificationKnowledge of the main standards and Codes applicable to Surface Treatment, Painting for Corrosion Protection, Pressure Vessel and Quality Management SystemsExperience in industrial valves, piping, oil & gas, process plants or similar business sectors is preferredGood technical English, both written and spoken (with particular reference to surface treatments terminology)Proficiency in Italian languageBasic knowledge of the most common IT toolsAvailability for occasional trips abroad (for auditing or product support activities)KPIMinimizing painting non conformities;CORE KORN FERRY COMPETENCIESCollaborates (6) Drives results (28)Situation adaptability (31) Tech Savvy (35)Optimizes work processes (38)WHY EMERSONOur Commitment to Our PeopleAcross the globe, we are united by a singular Purpose: We drive innovation that makes the world healthier, safer, smarter, and more sustainable.We invest in our employees to ensure they have the marketplace knowledge, skills, and competencies to bring this Purpose to life while competing and leading in a global economy.
