City of New York Senior Coordinator, Capital Projects New York , New York Apply Now The Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) advises the Mayor of the City of New York on criminal justice policy. MOCJ develops and implements strategies, with partners inside and outside government, to reduce crime and incarceration and to promote fairness and legitimacy. MOCJ works with law enforcement, city agencies, non-profits, foundations, and others to implement data-driven strategies that address current crime conditions, prevent offending, and build the strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety.About the Role:MOCJ is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Senior Coordinator within the Capital Projects team to support and coordinate the implementation of Justice-related projects under the MOCJ portfolio. The Senior Coordinator will report to MOCJ's Executive Director of Capital Projects and work closely with the Deputy Executive Director of Capital Projects. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in learning the mechanics of municipal project management within City government and the NYC Criminal Justice system to support public safety and well-being through the improvement of the City's built environment and civic assets.The ideal candidate will be an entry- or mid-level project manager and/or design coordinator to help implement the City's Criminal Justice master planning and capital portfolio, including the Borough-Based Jail (BBJ) developments and NYC Courthouse projects. The candidate must be a self-directed individual capable of providing excellent coordination and project management support.Project ManagementDocument the progress of multi-agency project strategies and activities, coordinate with large teams (City agencies and consultants), monitor project progress, maintain records, support project presentations, and develop a central CP Portfolio tracking system.Represent MOCJ at Borough-Based Jail (BBJ) facility meetings, working with a large group of City agencies and technical consultants to build modern and humane jail facilities as part of the Closing Rikers Island plan. Actively participate in various weekly project meetings and identify impacts based on program requirements, objectives, legislation, and policies.Support the management the City's Courts project portfolio, including tracking project budget and invoices, facilitating meetings, documentation of stakeholder input, reports and briefings, and project site visits as needed.Assist in coordination with Courts, District Attorney's offices, Criminal Justice agencies, OMB, and other City agencies to help address Courthouse operational needs and building problems.Interagency CoordinationCollaborate with City and State agency partners to ensure that various elements of the project are coordinated.Support MOCJ representation at public forums as needed, provide internal briefings.Research & Strategic InitiativesAssist MOCJ in data collection and research for evidence-based approaches to design and public safety, to help with MOCJ's goals and work for advancing high-priority and politically sensitive initiatives.Support the implementation of pilot projects that support public safety and improve existing civic assets through strategic design initiatives.Support MOCJ Executive team and programs on special projects relating to building programs and operations as needed.QualificationsA baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; orHigh school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; orEducation and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
