You will be part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team. You will report to the Director of Advertising Finance and you will partner with teams across Finance and Advertising functions. You will have a firm understanding of FP&A principles and the ability to provide accurate numbers. You will focus on advertising expenses related to position management, compensation expenses and operating expenses. The primary responsibilities include budgeting and forecasting expenses, creating forecasting materials, and providing commentary for financial results each month.This is a hybrid position, based in our New York City headquarters. You will report to the office in-person 3 or more days per week and can choose to work remotely the other days.Responsibilities:Provide financial decision support to leadership on expense planning (including FTE headcount and workforce planning)Analyze expense trends and prepare monthly performance reports for senior management, summarizing results to budget & forecastMaintain and streamline/enhance FTE, payroll, and operating expense processesCommunicate with, answer questions, and assist Financial Department on all issues regarding advertising expenses and related cost patterns for corporate reportingPartner with the Director to use special projects and periodic department financial performance reviews to develop long-term reporting proceduresImplement activities related to forecasting and budgeting for advertising expensesBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance3+ years of experience in relevant financial roles with a sound understanding of financial and accounting conceptsExcellent MS Excel (can build and maintain complex spreadsheets)Agile with the ability to handle simultaneous requestsTechnical expertise required with the ability to work with large amounts of data and build financial modelsExperience providing insights to senior leaders that result in sound decisionsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with Workday Financial, Adaptive, and GoogleWorkspaceInterest in the media / advertising industryThe annual base pay range for this role is between $95,000.00 and $105,000.00.The New York Times is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce, one that reflects the varied global community we serve.
