We have long been associated with many of the most significant advances in eye health, and we believe we are well positioned to continue leading the advancement of eye health in the future.Job ObjectivesThe purpose of this position is to work as a laboratory analyst providing material science characterization of hydrogel materials.The senior analytical chemist will utilize strong analytical skills that provide data driven conclusions to assist in research and development project objectives from idea conception through product commercialization.Job ResponsibilitiesOperation and routine maintenance of dynamic mechanical analyzers, shear rheometers, differential scanning calorimeters, thermal gravimetric analyzers, and tensile test frames.Assist in development of technical capabilities to further the understanding of material formulation/process/property related dependencies.Solve analytical challenges through internal method development activities and utilizing external technologies.Generate, organize, interpret, and report data generated both in-house and externally to support technical projects and analytical service requests.Mentor and develop less experienced technical personnel.Communicate, interact and support a broad range of stakeholders from R&D, business teams, and process chemistry through technical reports, in-person meetings, and presentations.Job QualificationsEducation: M.S. in material science, polymer physics, polymer engineering or related discipline is required, Ph.D. is preferred.Experience: 0 years with Ph.D. or minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in industry required with M.S. degree.Ability to work effectively on a team.Experience with shear rheometers, dynamic mechanical analyzers(DMA), tensile test frames, and thermal analysis instrumentation (DSC, TGA).Material characterization related technical publications and/or presentations.Knowledge of hydrogel chemistry (conventional and silicone), tribology, and poro-elasticity is a plus.Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary team.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to creatively problem-solve and independently lead technical projects.Experience in IT and computer networking is a plus but not required.We offer competitive salary & excellent benefits including:Medical, Dental, Eye Health, Disability and Life Insurance begins on your hire date401K Plan with company match and ongoing company contributionPaid time off – vacation (3 weeks - prorated upon hire), floating holidays and sick timeEmployee Stock Purchase Plan with company matchEmployee Incentive BonusOngoing performance feedback and annual compensation reviewAs required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
