Dettagli della offerta

Overview
This 160-hour, immersive program is designed for talented, low-income young people, ages 18-24, to develop at least foundational creative and technical knowledge and skills in visual storytelling, with an introduction to narrative, documentary, and commercial forms. Through a project-based learning model, students learn about development and pre-production, production, and post-production, with an emphasis on the latter. Soft skills development is integrated into the curriculum, and students are provided with mentoring and other support. Successful graduates receive certification from Venice Arts; sit for professional-level Adobe Premiere Pro certification; compete for paid, creative sector internships; and, those with a special aptitude for editing, receive priority for our 480-hour Editing Pre Apprenticeship.
Structure and Role
The program runs in three, seven-week cycles. In the first week, students meet M-F in a 32 hour "bootcamp" that focuses on soft skills and building foundational knowledge. The remaining 6 weeks are 20-hours per week, T-WTh. The first cycle begins October 23, with two programs offered in late/winter and spring 2024. We will have a strong preference to hire a Teaching Assistant able to work for all three cycles.
This position works under the Director of the CCWE and is directly responsible to the Senior Lead Teaching Artist, who is responsible for the overall classroom experience and curriculum. Specifically, the Teaching Assistant:
? Sets up the classroom to support daily and weekly in-class activities.
? Takes attendance and notifies the program Coordinator of absences within 15 minutes of the start of class.
? Manages all equipment distribution according to Venice Arts' protocols, including logging the return of equipment and assuring that it remains in good working order.
? Maintains program-dedicated equipment and media labs.
? Depending on technical and creative skills and knowledge provides in class teaching assistance and direct support to students.
? Photographs and/or video documents programs as directed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is personable, an excellent communicator, and able to take direction and work as a member of a team. A graduate of a filmmaking program (college and/or community-based), or an individual demonstrating related experience, is required. Must be comfortable with Adobe Suite software, especially PremierePro, and =have a high level of technical expertise with digital video cameras, sound, peripheral equipment, and Apple computers.
Prior experience assistant teaching filmmaking is preferred, but is not required.
Schedule + Compensation
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position that pays $20-$22/hour commensurate with experience. Hours during the teaching cycle are projected at 35 in the first week, and 20-25 in the subsequent 6 weeks, depending on assignments. This position starts no later than October 1, 2023. Please consider your ability to commit to this variable schedule, and part-time work, before applying.
To Apply
Send résumé with a cover letter highlighting relevant experience to ******. Please indicate "Teaching Assistant, CCWE" in the subject line. Please: No phone inquiries or walk-ins. Portfolio, curricular, or other materials may be requested if an interview is scheduled
