Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where evidence-based approaches drive communication decisions? Then this job may be for you! EFSA is looking for a Team Leader Communications to join its busy Communications Unit working across social research, content development and dissemination, campaigns, design, social media and multimedia, media relations, internal communications, scientific publishing, analytics and more. As Team Leader you will have the chance to manage a diverse team of approximately 10 people, overseeing critical functions ranging from social research and communications planning to internal communications, analytics, and campaigns. You'll play a pivotal role in driving our audience-first approach to communications, delving deep into the information needs of our diverse target audiences to inform strategic communications.  Your key responsibilities The successful candidate will report to the Head of Unit and will be responsible for the following tasks: Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment conducive to creativity and innovation. Strategic Planning: Develop evidence-based communications strategies tailored to our various audiences and channels, leveraging insights from social research and analytics to ensure maximum impact. Internal Communications: Develop and implement effective internal communication strategies to ensure alignment, engagement, and knowledge sharing among team members and across the organisation. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with other teams within the Unit, including those focussed on content development, scientific publishing, and media relations, to integrate communication efforts and achieve departmental objectives. Audience Understanding: Utilise the latest social research methodologies and segmentation techniques to gain deep insights into the information needs and preferences of diverse target audiences, informing communication strategies and tactics. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of communication activities, regularly evaluating performance and providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.  WHY EFSA? Salary and benefits EFSA can offer the selected candidate a contract of 5 years with the possibility of renewal. If renewed for a second time, the contract will be for an indefinite period. Eligibility criteria 1.General requirements •Be national of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland or Norway; •Enjoy full rights as a citizen;•Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by laws concerning military service;•Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post;[1]•Have a thorough knowledge of one of the EU official languages and a satisfactory knowledge of another EU language;•Meet the character requirements for the duties involved. 2.Qualifications a) A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least four (4) years attested by a diploma[2]?in one of the following fields: social sciences, business or management studies, communications, journalism, public relations, or any related discipline. OR b) A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three (3) years attested by a diploma[2]?in one of the following fields: social sciences, business or management studies, communications, journalism, public relations, or any related discipline, and in addition at least one (1) year of professional experience. 3.Experience In addition to the above, at least six (6) years of proven professional experience[3] acquired after having obtained the qualifications mentioned in point 2. In case you do not fulfil all the eligibility criteria, your application will not be taken into consideration. II.Selection criteria The following competencies will be assessed throughout the different phases of the selection procedure. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate effective communication in both spoken and written English as well as strong motivation for the position. 1.Technical competencies i.Proven track record of developing and implementing communication strategies in an international context (preferably in a regulatory or scientific environment), based on insights from social research, analytics, and the latest communication trends. ii.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience in motivating and mentoring a diverse team. iii.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders. iv.Experience in contract management with external suppliers in the field of communications or research. 2.Behavioural competencies i. Deal with ambiguity: Able to work constructively within unexpected and unpredictable situations and show resilience and composure, even in difficult or adverse circumstances; able to decide and act without having the total picture; accept constructive feedback in a positive manner.ii.
