Assistant Professor Of English Literature

Ca' Foscari invites applications for a tenured-track position as Assistant Professor of English literature. Ca' Foscari is looking for a researcher of English literature with a cutting edge research profile. The researcher should also have a strong commitment to teaching new generations of students so that they can become game-changers in their own fields and make a difference in the world.  The candidate will teach courses (in English and Italian) mainly under the academic discipline of English Literature, in accordance with the needs of the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies and the objectives of the paths/curricula. S/he will work in the BA and MA programmes offered by the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies and in the Inter-departmental courses to which the Departments contributes, as well as in the related post-graduate and doctoral programmes. The languages of instruction are English and Italian; S/he will have to be able to perform all administrative duties and interact with the university administration in Italian. The candidate will carry out research in compliance with the guidelines of the Department of Linguistic and Comparative Cultural Studies. More specifically, s/he will investigate in the field of English literature, postcolonial literature, and environmental humanities. The candidate is expected to have international research experience – including international publications, training abroad and participation in international research networks. The position will be hosted in the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies . The Department has recently received a "Department of Excellence" Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the Department to Develop state of the art laboratory facilities to pursue the theoretical and empirical study of linguistic and cultural diversity. The Department is unique in its multidisciplinary approach to language, literature and culture, with fertile exchanges between linguistic, literary, historical and political approaches and an international outlook essential to a critical understanding of global society. The Department actively pursues internationalization, activating joint programmes, Erasmus exchange periods, internships abroad, encouraging publication in international journals and inviting many Visiting Scholars and Professors.
